The English Teaching Faculty Development Workshop, a NATO-approved course for experienced language teachers, took place at the Partner Language Training Center Europe (PLTCE) from 15-24 September. The 12 participants from Albania, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Georgia, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain, and Ukraine explored current teaching methodologies for NATO and military contexts, with an emphasis on student-centered approaches for aligning speaking and writing instruction with the NATO language proficiency standards. The workshop was skills based, culminating in microteaching activities for teaching communication skills that enhance language interoperability. The two facilitators were Mr Ivo Ivaylo from Bulgaria’s Partner Training and Education Centre (PTEC) and Navy Captain Estela Fortunato Magalhães from Portugal.
